What services does Goodman Interior offer?

Goodman Interior is specialized in interior design and renovation for both residential and commercial properties. We offer a comprehensive range of services in the interior design industry such as: Idea Generation, Space Planning, Interior Design, Layout Design, Project Management and Renovation Works. Rest assured that we are with you at every step of the design process.

How do I get started on my renovation plans with Goodman Interior?

It is very easy and fuss-free. If the actual site is ready for us to go over, a meet up at the site is usually preferred. You are also welcome to visit our showroom to look at some beautiful materials that we have proposed. So long as you are ready to start discussing your renovation plans, we are always right here waiting to kick-start the plan. A meeting with our designer can be arranged at your convenient date, time and place. First, we need to understand your lifestyle, preferred design concept and budget. If you are not sure which design concepts to go for, you are welcome to share with us your preferred look and feel you have come across and from there, we can work out something. Oh yes! Do bring along your floor plan during our first meet-up!

What do I have to do during the renovation process?

We will usually involve you when we need to firm up the design, finalizing the quotation and approval, signing relevant documents for submission to HDB or management office, choosing materials for the renovation and buying home décor or accessories. During the renovation phase, our designer will inform you of the need to visit retail shops like lighting shops, tiles shops and kitchen/bathroom accessories’ shops to purchase fittings for installation. During this time, you can also start to shop or look around for the loose furniture that you desire, or you can even come to us for advice.  You can have a peace of mind knowing that your home renovation is in our good hands and that a team of professionals are handling the project well. We will always keep you updated on what is upcoming and what is next to be done.

What is your interior design and project management process like after I appoint Goodman Interior as my ID?

The process depends on each project as different job scope requires different processes. Usually, we start by discussing the design concepts and budget for the renovation. Once this is confirmed, there is a need to prepare necessary approvals and permits. This will then be followed closely by us overseeing and coordinating the entire process like hacking, tiling, plumbing, ceiling, painting and carpentry works etc till completion.

Our services do not stop here. We offer a 5-year warranty on all our workmanship after the work is completed. Should you have any queries on the work we had done, do approach us for more advice and information here.

Will your interior designer be the one managing my renovation?

Yes, all our interior designers are well trained in handling all kinds of projects. They are the ones who will advise you on the design concepts as well as be responsible for the project management from start to completion.

Goodman Interior has been recognized as Singapore’s Top 500 SME for the year 2021. We are also an HDB licensed renovator and a CaseTrust accredited interior design company.

With such important accreditations, we are definitely your right choice of interior designer in Singapore.

How long will the renovation process take? Is there a way to speed up the process?

Depending on the scope of work, a project’s renovation progress could last from 4 to 12 weeks. Should there be a total overhaul for a resale unit, for example, the project might take longer to complete. We will discuss the project schedule with you before the project begins. We always do our best to complete a project within the timeline as agreed. However, if there is a change in design requirements by the owner or any unforeseen circumstances due to the site situation, the delayed timeline will be made known to you in advance.

Will I get to visit the job site to see the site progress? What happens once the project is completed?

We always update and inform you of the progress of the renovation. Clients are always welcome to visit the job site while the works are carried out. When the project is completed, we will carry out a final cleaning of the site before we do a handover to you. Of course, you are always welcome to provide us with your feedback on the work done. We will carry out any final touch-ups on the work done before we officially hand over the unit back to you.

Why should I hire an interior designer?

It is more cost-effective to hire interior designers who will handle all the coordination work since we are the subject expert in HDB regulations, technical knowledge and site coordination. The downside of handling the coordination on your own is that you might end up paying more for rectification work and spend more time trying to resolve issues and problems that happened due to misalignment of expectations and miscommunication.

I would like to renovate/re-design my home or office, but I don’t have a lot of time to oversee the renovation process. Should I hire an interior designer or contractor?

The difference between an interior designer and a contractor is that an interior designer helps you manage the full spectrum of the entire space planning, design and renovation work. He/she understands the colour, design and functional aspects of the entire layout. A contractor may only be experienced in his particular field of work for eg. in electrical or laying of floor tiles only. He/she may not be familiar with design conceptualization nor possess the required project management skills.

The benefits in engaging an interior designer by Goodman Interior are satisfactory customer service and the time/energy you save in getting the entire renovation work completed often outweigh the costs that you pay. Hiring an interior designer definitely saves you a lot of time having to coordinate and plan the whole project.

Do you have renovation packages?

We do not offer renovation packages. We at Goodman Interior, believe in providing you with quality workmanship in a transparent and sustainable business, rather than selling a package and then trying to upsell our clients. We only charge what you need and therefore our quotation states very clear itemized pricing. We believe everyone has different needs and wants in terms of their ideal homes so there is no one-size-fits-all package. We are unique in our service offering – being practical and transparent in all our prices to you.

How do I keep track of my renovation budget?

Usually, when a client consults us, we will provide a price quotation for consideration. If the price has been agreed and the project awarded to us, we will handle the project management based on the price agreed in the contract. Should there be any changes in design requirements, we will keep you informed of any price revision. We will proceed with the change of works only upon your agreement. In this way, you will be informed of any price changes and be able to keep track of your budget.

How is your payment schedule like?

We follow the progressive payment schedule approved and determined by CaseTrust under Case Association of Singapore. The progressive payments are collected upon each stage of the renovation progress namely, upon confirmation, upon work commencement, upon measurement of carpentry and at final handover.

Can you design any styles?

Yes, we can come up with any designs that you prefer. We will design the look that you love till you are ready to start the work with us.

Will I get 3D visualizations of how the design will look like?

Yes, it all depends on the scope of work that you need. We can arrange visualizations like 3D images or even a 360° house virtual tour upon your confirmation of the project. We normally suggest developing a visual reference of images that capture the feeling, colours, textures, and functionality of the designs that we have created for you.

Can you work with my existing renovation contractor?

Yes, we can! We can offer a design-only service. Kindly note that should the existing renovation contractor requires us to be involved in the project management, there are project management fees involved. Please contact us for more information.

Can I see more samples of your works/designs?

You may refer to our corporate website for more of our residential/commercial interior works/designs. However, should you need to see more samples, you may approach our interior designers so that they can share more with you. We can arrange to bring you to visit our existing job sites if we have obtained approval from our clients.

Do you offer free consultations?

We do not charge for non-obligatory consultations. Should you require advice on how to plan your residential or commercial spaces, please feel free to contact us and we can discuss more on your designs right away. Our valuable information and advice given to our clients have benefited them, that is why they choose us as their preferred ID.

Can I choose to communicate with your designers only through Zoom?

We always encourage clients to meet us face to face (if possible) so that we can understand your requirements and preferences in greater detail. Another important reason is that you will also understand better how our designers work since they are the ones handling your design and renovation. You can also get to have a feel of the material samples in our showroom. The get-to-know is very important in understanding how we work here at Goodman Interior. If you still prefer zoom calls, communicating through the phone can still be arranged due to the current COVID-19 situation.

What is your showroom/office opening hours?

Our showroom/office opens from 9 am to 6 pm on Mondays to Fridays. Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays are usually open on an appointment basis only. Do contact us to make an appointment now.

What is the difference between customized furniture and retail furniture?

Customized furniture is built to order based on the exact measurement and can fit odd spaces perfectly. Since it is customized, it can be designed based on your preferred look and feel with the right dimension, so that the overall look blends in more harmoniously. Ready-made furniture sold at retail shops is manufactured in bulk. They normally come in fixed sizes and generic designs with no customization, so they may not blend in well with the design concept you want to create. You can opt for a mix of both customized or retail furniture. We will advise you accordingly if there is no need for customization for some furniture.
